Latest ChemKey Search Database Update File
For obtaining the [80,000 to 90,000] ChemKey Search
Update file (10,000 new references from the 2001-2002 Literature)
To obtain the latest software necessary for updating the ChemKey Search
Database from 80,000 to 90,000 references, Do the following:
-
For the Mac:
-
Download chemkey90.hqx
to your Mac (1.7 MB)
-
If your browser (i.e. Netscape) does not automatically convert the
chemkey90.hqx file into the chemkey.sea stuffit file you
will need to use binhex 4.0 to convert the hqx (hexidecimal file)
into binary format to generate a new file called chemkey.sea
-
It is necessary to dearchive the chemkey.sea file. To do this, simply click
on the file chemkey.sea
-
Make sure that the CKUpdate.fm file just created and the Chemkey.fp3 file are in the same directory. Open up your
80,000 version of the Chemkey database and under the "Script" menu, click
on "Update the database" button. The 10,000 references contained within
the CKUpdate.fm file will be read into your current Chemkey.fp3 file. When
this is done, exit the program and the next time you open it you will be
updated to 90,000 refs and ready to go.
-
For the IBM PC:
-
download the compressed, binarychemkey90.exe (1.6MB) to your PC
-
Open up the self-extracting chemkey90.exe to create the CKUpdate.fm
file.
-
Make sure that the CKUpdate.fm file and the Chemkey.fp3 file are in the
same directory. Open up your 80,000 version of the Chemkey database and
under the "Script" menu, click on "Update the database" button. The 10,000
references contained within the CKUpdate.fm file will be read into your
current Chemkey.fp3 file. Of course, make sure the Chemkey.fp3 file is
NOT write protected by unclicking the "read only" box under "Properties"
of the file. When this is done, exit the program and the next time you open
it you will be updated to 90,000 refs and ready to go.
